Vietnam Sets Ceiling Prices For Electricity Generation Of Transitional Solar And Wind Power Projects

Nguyen Hung Dien, Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, established the new framework for electricity prices for transitional solar as well as wind power projects.

The ceiling price for electricity generation (excluding value-added taxes) is VND1,184.90/kWh for ground solar power plants and VND1,508.27/kWh for floating solar power plants.

For the onshore wind power plants, the ceiling price is VND1,587.12/kWh. The offshore wind power plants are VND1,815.95/kWh.

This electricity price framework and the transitional solar, as well as wind power generators, are described in Circular No.15/2022/TT-BCT. They will then discuss the official electricity prices.

On 3 October 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Circular 15/2022/TT-BCT announcing the electricity generation price range for transitional wind and solar power projects. Circular 15 applies to wind power projects that have executed a PPA with Vietnam Electricity before 1 November 2021 but were not eligible for feed-in-tariffs (FiT) by the end of 30 October 2021 and solar power projects that have executed a PPA with EVN before 1 January 2021 but were not eligible for FiTs by the end of 31 December 2020.
