Japanese retailer Aeon plans a logistics hub in Cambodia in 2023

Aeon, a Japanese retailer, plans to build a 30,000-square-meter logistics center in Sihanoukville, Cambodia in 2023 to provide import storage, customs clearance, and cross-border online retail support. Cambodia plans to develop a part of the special economic zone as a free trade port with the support of the Government of Japan and the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

The Aeon Cambodia logistics center will be equipped with the first domestic bonded warehouse that allows importers to store goods from abroad without paying customs duties. Companies can keep large quantities of merchandise in the center for a period of time and can withdraw merchandise with a small tariff if needed.

At AEON MALL Shopping Center in Cambodia, we expect mall tenants to use warehouses to store products imported from Japan, Europe, the United States, and so on.

The Hub will also sell its services to local retailers and e-commerce companies, along with Japanese consumer product manufacturers considering selling in Cambodia, according to a Cambodian newspaper report.
