Phnom Penh – Sihanoukville Expressway construction works on schedule

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia, the construction of the Phnom Penh (PP)-Sihanoukville Expressway is progressing smoothly and to date, the project has achieved 63% in terms of overall completion.

After the completion of the above expressway project, the journey from PP to Sihanoukville is estimated to take only 2 hours and will play an important role in the social and economic development of Cambodia as well as the economic corridor between PP and Sihanoukville.

The PP-Sihanoukville Expressway presents the first SBS paving in Cambodia that can withstand high temperatures and heavy rainfalls and provides additional strength as well as extended road life.

The PP-Sihanoukville Expressway Project has been a great success and this is the first time in Cambodia that SBS has been processed with asphalt.

The expressway is an infrastructure project under the Belt and Road initiative, being built at a cost of about $2 billion. The project is being undertaken by China Bridge and Road Corporation (CRBC).
