ASEAN Tourism Forum moved to Sihanoukville

The government has decided to relocate the venue for the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2022 (ATF 2022), which was originally scheduled to take place in Phnom Penh on January 16-22, to Sihanoukville, according to a letter from the Council of Ministers.

The letter, signed by the Council’s permanent secretary of state Hing Thoraksy on July 8, said the relocation was approved following a request from Minister of Tourism Thong Khon on June 22 and in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the letter, ATF 2022 will include a number of key events such as the ASEAN Tourism Institutional Meeting (NTO), ASEAN Tourism Ministers’ Meeting and Travex Tourism Fair.

The event will be attended by over 2,000 participants from more than 25 countries, as well as tourism ministers and leaders, and national and international investors.

First established in 1981, AFT is a major event organised by ASEAN member states aimed at promoting tourism cooperation and make the ASEAN region an attractive single tourist destination.
